Paragliding in Davos in winter.
In winter we fly ordinary tandem paragliding flights in Davos with a take-off on foot: you do not need to ski, a few quick steps in the snow are enough. For good skiers there is Ski & Fly on top of that, taking off with your skis on right in the middle of the ski area. The winter season on the Jakobshorn runs from 27 November 2026 to 11 April 2027, your ski pass covers the ride up to the launch site, and high-quality photos and your edited flight video come free with every flight.
Take-off on foot: you do not need to ski for a winter flight
The most common misconception about paragliding in winter is that you have to be on skis. You don't. In winter we launch on foot exactly as we do in summer, usually at the Jatzhütte on the Jakobshorn. Depending on wind and weather, your pilot picks the right launch site, for example at the summit or on the Brämabüel.
After a briefing, a few quick steps down the slope are all it takes, then the air carries you. You need no experience at all, and average fitness is plenty. Winter boots and hiking boots work perfectly, and taking off in ski boots or snowboard boots is no problem either.
The cable car lifts us around 1,000 metres up the mountain. The cable car ticket is not included in the flight price; in winter your ski pass simply covers it, and without a ski pass you buy a one-way ticket at the counter. In winter we land behind the valley station of the Carjöl chairlift, where you will spot the yellow Air-Davos sign. From the landing field it is only a few minutes on foot back into town.
And the air in winter? The dense forest around the Jakobshorn often produces thermals even in the cold season. It is not unusual for us to gain extra height before the launch site, and when the lowlands disappear under grey high fog, conditions up here are often perfect.
Winter flight or Ski & Fly: what is the difference?
Both are tandem flights in winter. The difference lies in the take-off and in what you need to be able to do.
Ordinary winter flight: take-off on foot
You launch on foot, need no skiing skills whatsoever and fly 15 to 35 minutes above the snow-covered mountains, or 35 to 60 minutes on the Thermal Flight. This is the flight the vast majority of our winter guests choose: the Panoramic Flight for CHF 190.
Ski & Fly: take-off with your skis on
On Ski & Fly you ride a few metres straight down the slope with your pilot until the wing lifts you both off the ground. That takes good skiing skills, although you never have to do more than ride straight ahead. Pure airtime is 10 to 15 minutes, with a touch & go on request, and you land in the snow right beside the valley run. Ski & Fly also costs CHF 190 and is only possible in winter while the ski lifts are running.
In short: if you do not ski, you fly in winter just the same, only launching on foot. If you ski well, you can choose to take off on skis.
What to wear for your winter paragliding flight
Simply wear what you would wear on the ski slope: warm outdoor or ski clothing with a windproof jacket, a fleece and gloves, plus sunglasses or ski goggles and good boots.
We provide the helmet, and your own ski helmet is just as welcome. We cannot stow backpacks on the tandem, so bring only the essentials or leave your luggage in the valley.

Weather and planning: how you get your flying day in winter
We only fly in safe conditions. We check the forecast a few days before your date and get in touch. If the weather says no, we reschedule or cancel free of charge, so there is no risk for you.
If you are planning a winter holiday in Davos, allow 2 to 3 days of weather buffer; that leaves room for a replacement date. Please give us your mobile number including the country code, as that is the only way we can reach you at short notice if something shifts on your flying day.
One date to know about in January: during the World Economic Forum from 18 to 22 January 2027 a flight ban applies to the greater Davos Klosters area, so tandem flights are not possible here during that week. You will find more on this in our frequently asked questions.
In winter the air is at its calmest in the morning. On the Early Bird we meet at 8:00 am in winter, and the whole ski day still lies ahead of you afterwards.
Winter season 2026/2027: when we fly in Davos and Klosters
Our winter flights depend on the cable cars. On the Jakobshorn in Davos the 2026/2027 winter season runs from 27 November 2026 to 11 April 2027. Note the start of the season: from 27 to 29 November the cable car runs on weekend service only, from 30 November to 3 December it stays closed, and from 4 December 2026 it runs every day.
In Klosters the Gotschna cable car runs from 27 November 2026 to 4 April 2027. Which launch site suits your date is something we sort out when you book; you will find more about how a flight day works under Flight Info Davos and Flight Info Klosters.
Once the season ends, the cable cars pause between seasons. We then fly Hike&Fly tandem flights by arrangement, walking up to the launch site together.

How cold is a paragliding flight above Davos in winter?
Colder than down in the valley, because you launch at around 2,500 metres and the airflow cools you further while flying. With warm ski clothing, gloves and goggles you are dressed right for your winter flight, exactly as you would be for a day on the slopes.
