Paragliding Tandem Flight in Davos: Flight-Info
In Davos, the Jakobshorn is our main flying area. With the Jakobshorn, we have an excellently developed mountain for conducting paragliding tandem flights in Davos. In terms of flying, it leaves nothing to be desired. In addition to paragliding take-off sites for (almost) all wind directions, there are large, easy landing sites in the valley. Our flight students also feel comfortable in Davos. In addition to tandem flights, we often conduct training flights with our students here.
The two sections of the Jakobshornbahn take us around 1,000 meters above Davos. This altitude is sufficient to enjoy extensive views of the alpine mountain world during a long flight. Often, we can climb even higher than the launch site. The view near the main Alpine ridge always amazes us.
On the Jakobshorn, we have launch sites available for all wind directions (e.g., Summit launch site, Jatzhütte, Brämabüel).
In summer, the landing site is on the large meadow in front of the restaurant Bolgen Plaza. In winter, we land behind the base station of the Carjöl chairlift (yellow Air-Davos advertisement board at the landing site).
We guarantee you individual attention for your best flight experience.
Davos is our home base, and we know the area like the back of our hand.
Ideal Clothing in Winter:
For the flight, we recommend wearing warm, comfortable outdoor or ski clothing (windproof jacket, fleece, gloves, etc.), sunglasses or ski goggles, and sturdy shoes (e.g., hiking boots, winter boots, snowboard boots, etc.).
If you’re missing any clothing or shoes, you can borrow them free of charge for the flight.
Additional Information:
Please also remember to bring your mountain railway pass, Topcard, or ski ticket (if available).
Backpacks are difficult to store in our luggage compartment during the flight. Therefore, please avoid bringing backpacks or leave them at the base station.
Paragliding takes place outdoors, and we are highly dependent on weather and wind conditions. Please make sure to provide us with your correct mobile phone number (including the country code). This is the only way we can contact you at short notice in case of delays to your paragliding flight.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ): Paragliding in Davos
How safe is a paragliding flight?
Paragliding is very safe when conducted by experienced pilots who know the flight area very well. If the current weather is also taken into account in the flight decision, nothing stands in the way of a very safe paragliding flight.
The equipment is subject to strict safety standards. Manufacturers must have their products certified to ensure they meet the requirements. We fly exclusively with current equipment from well-known manufacturers.
In Switzerland, paragliding is not considered a risk sport.
What happens to my booking if there is bad weather on the day of the flight?
In case of bad weather on the day of the flight, we will try in advance to find a suitable replacement date together with you. If this is not possible for you in terms of time, you can easily cancel the flight. There are no costs for you for rescheduling the flight or for the cancellation.
Is there a weight limit for paragliding?
Yes, there is a weight limit. Our paragliders are approved for a specific minimum and maximum total weight (weight of pilot + passenger + complete equipment). However, by combining light pilot / heavy passenger or vice versa and by choosing different paragliders, we have a lot of leeway. For us, there is practically no lower weight limit. Very light passengers / children can easily fly with us. If you have a body weight of over 115 kg, we ask for prior contact so that we can plan the flight accordingly.
What clothing is ideal for a tandem flight?
For the flight, we recommend wearing comfortable outdoor clothing in summer (long pants, jacket, fleece), sunglasses (as protection for the eyes against the wind), and sturdy shoes. You will receive a flight helmet from us, but you can also use your own ski or snowboard helmet.
Can I securely store luggage?
You are welcome to store your luggage securely and free of charge in our shop for the duration of the flight experience. Our shop is located in close proximity to the “Davos Platz” train station, the mountain railway, and the landing site. From there, you have very good access to public transportation.
Can I borrow clothes and shoes?
Yes, you can visit our shop before the flight and borrow clothing and shoes at no additional cost. We have a wide range of suitable flight attire available.
Can I take photos myself?
You are welcome to take photos during the flight! You will receive photos and videos from us free of charge after your flight, but you are also welcome to use your own camera. If you bring a large camera (DSLR or mirrorless camera), please let us know in advance. We will provide a front pocket to ensure that your photo equipment is well protected during takeoff and landing, and does not dangle uncontrollably during the start run, for example.
Will I be brought back to the meeting point?
Our landing sites in Davos and Klosters are located near the meeting point and can be easily reached on foot. Typically, we walk together from the landing site back to the original meeting point.
What physical requirements (fitness) are there for paragliding?
Paragliding requires an average level of physical fitness from the passenger. In case you are not good on foot, there is still a possibility to take off under favorable conditions. However, perfect wind and takeoff conditions are necessary for this. If you have any doubts about your fitness level for the flight, definitely get in touch with us in advance. We can discuss everything and plan the flight accordingly.
What weather is best suited for paragliding?
Ideal conditions for paragliding typically involve light to moderate wind speeds or no wind (approximately 0-25 km/h), clear visibility, and stable air masses. Thermal or dynamic updrafts can also be utilized to gain altitude. In case of poor visibility, precipitation, strong winds, or approaching thunderstorms, we usually refrain from flying. Certain conditions, such as foehn winds, require caution even in otherwise good weather, as unpredictable winds can occur.
We carefully review weather forecasts multiple times a day and, residing in Davos, possess extensive experience in assessing and predicting local weather conditions.
Are there age restrictions for paragliding?
There are no age restrictions for tandem paragliding flights. However, passengers under the age of 18 require parental consent. Our tandem pilots have flown with their own children at an age of under 2 years. For commercial flights, we consider a minimum age of 5 to 6 years to be appropriate.
How long does a paragliding flight last?
A paragliding tandem flight typically lasts between 15 and 35 minutes (pure flight time), depending on various factors such as weather conditions, thermals, and flight time. With good thermal conditions and updraft, we can also fly much longer. It is important to note that the entire experience, including the cable car ride, start preparation, briefing, takeoff, and landing, takes additional time. Therefore, a total duration of 90 to 120 minutes should be expected.
Why should I choose Davos for my paragliding flight?
- Breathtaking view: Near the main Alpine ridge, Davos offers a breathtaking view of majestic, mostly snow-covered peaks and the crystal-clear Lake Davos.
- Diversity of flight options: In Davos, a variety of take-off and landing sites are available to us. This allows us to be flexible in our choice of starting point depending on the wind direction.
- Well-known thermal and soaring hotspot: The thermals in Davos are especially good throughout the year due to the geographical features and altitude. This allows for long and high flights, making the paragliding experience even more exciting. In summer, the laminar valley wind provides excellent soaring conditions, and even in winter, the thermal hotspot in front of the Jatzhütte reliably produces updrafts for our high-altitude flight.
- Year-round flying experience: While paragliding is only possible during certain seasons in many regions, we fly year-round in Davos. In autumn, we take off above the autumnal inversion layer, and in winter, we soar above the high fog. Especially when the lowlands are submerged in high fog, Davos enjoys perfect flying conditions.
- Excellent infrastructure: The mountain railways comfortably take us to our starting points. In winter, we take off right in the middle of the ski area. The landing sites are within walking distance of the mountain railway.
- Easy accessibility: Davos is strategically located and has a well-developed and well-maintained road network. Even in the winter months, the roads are usually in good condition thanks to regular clearing and gritting services. Davos also has a direct train connection with the Rhaetian Railway. The “Davos Platz” train station is centrally located and in close proximity to the valley station of the Jakobshorn cable car.
- Wide range of accommodation options: Davos offers a large number of accommodation options to suit all needs and budgets: luxury and mid-range hotels, guesthouses and inns, holiday apartments, and youth hostels. We are happy to assist in finding suitable accommodation and support you with recommendations.
Do I need a mountain railway ticket for the paragliding flight?
Yes, you need a mountain railway ticket for your paragliding flight (one-way to the Jakobshorn summit). Please note that this ticket is not included in the price of the paragliding flight. In winter, you can use your ski ticket, and in summer, there are significant discounts on the mountain railway ride with the Davos Klosters guest card.
