On foot up the mountain, then over the Hotel Schatzalp
The Schatzalp funicular carries you up from Davos. From there we hike about 40 minutes to our morning launch site, far from the big cable cars and the crowds. Along the way, your pilot reads the wind and thermals with you, so you get a feel for flying before your feet ever leave the ground.
At the top: harness on, a briefing, a few quick steps, and the ground lets you go. Below you appears the Hotel Schatzalp, the Belle Époque former sanatorium that features in Thomas Mann's The Magic Mountain, and beyond it, all of Davos. No other flight of ours takes this line. We land on the meadow at Bolgen Plaza, right in Davos.
No experience needed: your pilot takes care of everything
Plan 1.5 to 2 hours for the experience, plus the roughly 40-minute hike to the launch site. Pure flight time is 15–35 minutes, depending on conditions. Your pilot, certified by the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA), explains everything before take-off, and we provide the helmet. Your only job: a few quick steps, then enjoy. Average fitness is plenty; sturdy shoes and a windproof jacket are ideal.
You pay by payment link in advance or on the flight day: cash, TWINT or card. And that same evening, high-quality photos and your edited flight video with music arrive via Dropbox link, always our gift to you. Watch it that night and you fly the whole route all over again.
If the weather does not cooperate: reschedule or cancel for free
Flying depends on the weather, and we are upfront about that. A few days before your date we do a weather check and get in touch with you. You receive the exact meeting point with your booking confirmation, so there is nothing to figure out. Unlike our other flights, the Schatzalp Panoramic Flight does not launch from the Jakobshorn or Gotschna, but from the Schatzalp high above Davos.
